AFC Joins UEFA and CONCACAF in Opposing FIFA's World Cup Investment Proposal

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has expressed strong support for UEFA and CONCACAF in opposing FIFA's proposal to create a commercial subsidiary for the FIFA World Cup, intensifying pressure on world football's governing body.

In a statement released on Friday, the AFC said it "stands in solidarity" with the two regional confederations and voiced serious concerns about FIFA's plan to establish a $20 billion commercial entity, known as FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), to manage the commercial rights of the World Cup and other FIFA competitions.

AFC Raises Governance Concerns

Although the AFC stopped short of threatening a boycott of FIFA tournaments, it warned that the growing possibility of a World Cup boycott should concern everyone involved in global football.
